Volunteering is a way for you to help others with no pressure. You will do a job and in return you get gain satisfaction from assisting others, a deeper knowledge on what things you need to work on and hopefully a FUN experience. What skills do you have? How can you use them to create a positive impact? What is something that you would like to work on? (Is it your public speaking, customer service or your patience) Below are my top three fun ways to volunteer!
Food Bank
I love the food bank! It is one of my favorite places to volunteer. The last time that I volunteered at my local food bank a few friends tagged along. We had an amazing time talking about our lives and bonding over funny experiences all while packaging sweet potatoes. Afterwards, we even picked up some food to eat! It was AMAZING!
This experience was Covid Friendly. We wore masks stayed only with our group and were spread out from others. Please contact your local food bank if you are concerned about the steps they are taking to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Tutoring
I’ve tutored math and science for a lot of my life. Since Covid hit, I started doing sessions over zoom and Skype only.
I know that some people can’t afford the expensive tutoring prices. So I’ve tried to tutor an hour a week for the past couple of years.
Feel free to share your skill with those around you!
Animals
You could help out at an animal shelter. Being around animals, if just for an hour is so definitely a mood booster for me! You could play with dogs, walk them or even feed them. I grew up with a lot of pets during my last few years of living at home and it was a joy to interact with them. Since It’s cold, I would ask if your local shelter or non-profit is taking in donations of blankets, toys or food… you never know what they might need.
Overall, Life is what you make of it! Volunteering is just one way that I make my life fun! Those were my top 3 fun volunteer experiences that I’ve had. What is your favorite?
